Course Requirements for Bachelor of Science Degree
Core Courses (58 Credits Total):
The faculty-designed curriculum encourgages completion of two-thirds of core coursework in the first two years. Immersion in core provides a thorough overview of hospitality, allowing students to quickly determine their specific interests and positioning them to tailor internship experiences toward their anticipated career path.

Additional Requirements:
- HADM Electives/Specialization (12 Credits): Students focus on their specific interests within hospitality through upper-level HADM coursework. Students may fulfill this requirement by choosing to specialize in a variety of areas including finance, analytics, services marketing, food and beverage management, and more. Students could also choose to pursue the Real Estate Minor to fulfill this degree requirement.
- ARTS Distribution Electives (15 Credits): Students must take 3 credits minimum in at least 3 of the following 5 distribution elective categories in the College of Arts and Sciences:
- Arts, Literature, & Culture and Historical Analysis (courses coded ALC-AS or HST-AS)
- Global Citizenship and Social Difference (courses coded GLC-AS or SCD-AS)
- Social Science (courses coded SSC-AS)
- Mathematics and Data Science (courses coded SMR-AS or SDS-AS)
- Biological and Physical Science (courses coded BIO-AS or PHS-AS)
- Distribution Electives (18 Credits): Courses coded with any of the Distribution Requirement Codes from any of Cornell’s colleges or schools, including the Nolan School.
- First-Year Writing (3 Credits): First-year students must take a first-year writing class during their first or second semester.

- 2 Practice Credit Units: Students must work a minimum of 800 hours (two units), paid or unpaid, in one or more industries that interest them.

Program Requirements for Master of Management in Hospitality Degree
The AACSB-accredited Masters of Management in Hospitality (MMH) program is a three-semester, 16-month professional degree program that provides a thorough grounding in business management in the context of the hospitality industry. In addition to a strong core course plan that prepares students to lead a variety of hospitality businesses, students may specialize in areas of unique challenges and opportunities in this exciting and ever-growing and changing industry. Additionally, students may choose to complete a graduate minor in real estate.
The program requirements include the successful completion of undergraduate courses in finance, accounting and statistics prior to the beginning of the first semester. Degree requirements include completion of 48 approved credits taken over the course of three semesters:
- 30 credits of required core courses
- 18 elective credits
In addition, students are required to complete a summer internship at a company to focus on their career interests.

Program Requirements for Master of Executive Management in Hospitality Degree
The Executive Master of Management in Hospitality (EMMH), offered by the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration in the SC Johnson College of Business, is a focused management education specifically designed to provide these skills and others to experienced hospitality professionals who want to propel their careers.
The EMMH is a 20-month program consisting of engaging online courses combined with residential sessions in Ithaca and New York City taught by Cornell University faculty. Whether you are in a leadership role or aspiring to one, this degree will help you advance your skills in strategic thinking, driving change, leading with an analytical, data-driven mindset, and leading a diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization.
The courses in the program are firmly grounded in practice and highly applied to today’s evolving hospitality landscape. Program Requirements for the Cornell Peking Master of Management in Hospitality/ Master of Business Administration Dual Degree
After two years of part-time study, graduates of the Cornell-Peking MMH/MBA dual degree program (M² Program) receive an MBA from the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University and a Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) degree from Cornell’s Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration. This program, with teaching based in Shanghai, accommodates the demanding lifestyles of executive professionals residing in China, allowing the balance of life, work, and study.
Its bilingual approach, class composition, and unique market presence—the Nolan School and GSM split the teaching with participants spending 70% of their time on the Guanghua School’s campus in Shanghai and 30% in Ithaca and New York City during U.S. residential sessions.
The M² Cornell-Peking MMH/MBA curriculum, which combines theory and practice, will be taught jointly by faculty at the two schools. Faculty at the Guanghua School teach MBA core courses; Nolan School faculty provide the specialized hospitality management core—in areas such as real estate, service operations, analytics, and human resource management. Program Requirements for Baker Program in Real Estate
The mission of the Baker Program in Real Estate is to educate, develop, and graduate the next generation of leaders. The Baker Program in Real Estate is a two-year degree program administered by the Graduate School , which confers a master of professional studies in real estate (MPS-RE) degree. The program was designed and intended for students who already have professional real estate experience but who are in the early years of their careers.
The Baker Program in Real Estate is a multi-disciplinary curriculum, composed of a faculty with practical experience and academic expertise from six Cornell University colleges. The program is 62 credit hours of coursework plus a required summer internship, as well as participation in one domestic and one international real estate trek, arranged by the Program. Prior to the start of the Program, students must complete undergraduate-level accounting, finance and micro-economics courses. Degree requirements include completion of 41.5 credits of core coursework. An additional 20.5 credit hours of elective coursework give students the opportunity to pursue a concentration, and to further develop management and leadership skills. Concentrations include finance and investment; development; consulting and market analysis; international real estate; property, asset, and portfolio management; independent concentration.
