ART 2902 - Writing for Art

This class investigates the conceptual and practical relationships between art and language and endeavors to develop an informed use of art-related language to the artist’s advantage. The demand for art language comes in many forms: from criticism and scholarly writing to the lecture, interview, manifesto, statement press release, grant application or the use of language as a textual component of a visual work. The goal here is to provide the class with exposure to these widely varying forms with their equally varying purposes while developing the ability to integrate them into and use them to support artistic practice.
