FREN 1120 is the equivalent level of FREN 1220 and also meets 5 times a week, but it is offered in the fall as opposed to FREN 1220 , which is offered in the spring. In order to achieve the same goals, this course is designed to provide students with a thorough grounding in French language and an introduction to intercultural competence as preparation for real-world application or eventual work in literary or cultural studies. Classes provide context-and genre-specific practice in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, as well as analytical skills for grammar, in order to help students develop the necessary tools for becoming independent language learners.
