BME 3302 - Biomedical Signals and Systems Spring. 3 credits. Letter grades only.
Prerequisite: MATH 2930 and CS 1112 or CS 1132 . Corequisite: MATH 2940 . Co-meets with BME 2310 .
S. Adie.
This course will cover the fundamentals of time- and frequency-domain analyses, and the application of these methods to biomedical signals and systems. Topics that are covered include Fourier transforms, convolution, transfer function, filtering, sampling and aliasing, and an introduction to Fourier optics and reconstruction methods in tomographic medical imaging. This foundational course covers the theory of linear systems within the context of its application to biomedical imaging and instrumentation. The 3000 level of this course will offer virtual labs, where students work with pre-recorded experimental data or simulate a real-world system. I can include an extended virtual lab component in the 3302 version of the course.
