LA 3160 - Site Engineering (CU-SBY) Fall. 5 credits. Letter grades only.
Permission of instructor required. Intended for: Landscape Architecture majors. Co-meets with LA 6160 .

This course exposes students to the fundamentals of site engineering and its relationship to best environmental practices. Lectures and short vignettes are provided to students and “worked-through” within the class period. These projects deal with site grading, earthwork estimating; storm water management, site layout, and essential associated professional skills.
Outcome 1: Students will learn how site grading affects the three dimensional qualities of landscape and how those qualities affect design.
Outcome 2: Students shall be able to read, interpret and develop topographic site plans.
Outcome 3: Students will learn concepts and conventions used by Civil Engineers, Landscape Architects and contractors to achieve the desired built outcomes.
