NBAE 5040 - Building Leadership Influence Spring. 1 credit. S/U grades only (no audit).
Enrollment limited to: students enrolled in the Cornell Executive MBA Metro New York Degree program.
R. Mish.
While leadership and influence are not the same thing, a primary aspect of a leader’s role is to influence others toward desired outcomes. It is possible to influence without leading, but it is virtually impossible to lead without influencing. This course examines three critical aspects of leadership influence: perceived credibility (who you are, what you know, what you’ve done, what you can be trusted to do); articulating a logically compelling vision; and forging an authentic, positive connection with others. Through study of business leaders who excel on these dimensions, and practice applying tools to enhance your strength in all three areas, you will grow your ability to influence others in your current role, and in any future leadership roles you undertake.
