BEE 3500 - Heat and Mass Transfer in Biological Engineering Fall, Summer. 4 credits. Letter grades only.
Prerequisite or corequisite: MATH 2930 and fluid mechanics course. Co-meets with BEE 5500 .
A. Datta.
Focuses on understanding the principles of heat and mass transfer in the context of biological (biomedical/bioprocessing/bioenvironmental) systems. Emphasizes physical understanding of transport processes with application examples from plant, animal and human biology, the bioenvironment (soil/water/air), and industrial processing of food and biomaterials.
Outcome 1: Students will improve their ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics (ABET 1).
Outcome 2: Students will improve their ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies (ABET 7).
