FDSC 4210 - Food Engineering Principles Fall. 4 credits. Letter grades only (no audit).
Prerequisite: FDSC 2000 and introductory physics. Co-meets with FDSC 5210 .

Applications of engineering concepts and transport phenomena to unit operations in food processing. Emphasis on the fundamental principles of thermodynamics, material and energy balances and momentum, heat and mass transport processes.
Outcome 1: Introduce students to the basic engineering aspects of food processing operations.
