ILROB 3270 - Social Capital and Organizations

This course will familiarize students with contemporary theories of how social relationships (also referred to as “social capital”) influence employment-relevant outcomes among individuals, firms, and broader markets. Topics will be informed by academic research and applied in prominent organizational settings. Students will explore topics including tie strength, network structure, social closure, embedded relationships, contaigion, visibility, status, collective wisdom, diffusion and adoption.
